Most of the cost of a family session comes from time - shooting time, travel time, and editing time. Keeping each of those focused is the simplest way to stay within budget.
For the shortest format, a mini session may be the best fit.
The smoothest sessions are the ones where families arrive ready. Plan outfits a week ahead using a simple palette of two or three colors, and try everything on so there are no last-minute surprises. Iron clothes the night before and keep them on hangers in the car.
Feed kids before the session and bring a snack and water for a mid-session break. Schedule around naps, because a rested toddler makes the whole session faster. Arrive ten minutes early to park, walk to the meeting spot, and fix hair. Leave toys, sunglasses, and phones in the car unless they are part of the plan.
Timing matters, too. Sessions near sunrise or sunset have softer light, which means less editing to fix harsh shadows and squinting. That saves time for us and produces better results for you, which is a rare win on both fronts.
