People searching for drones in Denver, Colorado rarely want a drone for its own sake. They want a roof documented without a ladder, a job site measured from above, a commercial listing shown in context, or a campaign shot that sells a place. The aircraft is just the tool. What matters is the right sensor, a safe and legal flight plan, and files your team can actually use.

Rocky Mountain Photography was founded in Denver in 2016 by brothers Jeff and Nick Perry, and aerial work has been part of the company from the start. Our pilots are Part 107-certified and insured, and much of the metro sits under controlled airspace around Denver International, Centennial, and Rocky Mountain Metropolitan airports, so we check authorization, often through LAANC, before every flight.

Drone services for every kind of project

Our aerial work falls into three families. Creative work covers aerial drone photography, drone videography, twilight and sunrise shoots, and 360 panoramas for listings, tourism, and brand campaigns. Data work, the side surveyors and engineers care about most, covers orthomosaic mapping, photogrammetry, and LiDAR scanning for surveyors, engineers, and builders. Inspection work covers roof inspections and visual inspections of facades, towers, and structures. Many clients mix families on a single visit, such as a general contractor who needs progress photos for the owner, an orthomosaic for the project engineer, and a short clip for the company website, all captured in the same flight window. Telling us every intended use up front lets the pilot plan one efficient mission instead of two separate trips.

Deliverables and file formats

Files are matched to where they are going. Marketing clients receive edited, web-ready JPEGs sized for listings, websites, and social channels, plus full-resolution versions for print, and video as MP4 files in horizontal and vertical cuts. Mapping clients receive georeferenced orthomosaics as GeoTIFFs, digital surface models, contour data, and 3D meshes that open in common GIS and CAD tools. LiDAR projects produce point clouds in LAS or LAZ format for survey and design software. Inspection clients get organized galleries of overview and close-up images labeled by elevation or roof section. Everything is delivered through an online gallery or a shared download link, and imagery hosting is included with drone packages. If your team uses a particular coordinate system or platform, tell us during scoping.

How a drone job runs from request to delivery

A project starts with the address or parcel, the goal, and the deadline. We review airspace, nearby airports, heliports, and any temporary flight restrictions, then request authorization where it is needed. Next comes the site plan: takeoff spots, obstacles such as power lines and cranes, and who needs to know we are coming, like a superintendent or property manager. Weather is the biggest variable along the Front Range, so we watch forecasts and reschedule early if wind, rain, snow, or low clouds look likely. On the day, the pilot flies the mission, often with a visual observer, and confirms coverage before leaving. Editing or processing follows, and next-day delivery is available on many photo shoots. Mapping and LiDAR processing take longer and are scheduled during scoping.

Who hires drone services in Denver

Commercial brokers and listing teams use aerials to show a building's access, parking, and neighborhood. General contractors and Colorado owners use recurring flights for construction progress documentation. Property managers, roofers, and insurers use inspection imagery to see roofs and facades without lifts or ladders. Surveyors and civil engineers use orthomosaics and point clouds to speed up existing-conditions work, with final survey decisions staying with their licensed staff. Marketing teams use cinematic footage for brand films and ads, often paired with ground crews from our video production team. Commercial real estate clients often bundle drone work with interior photography. Whatever the use, the first conversation is about which decision the imagery has to support, and the flight plan follows from that answer.

Frequently asked questions

Are your drone pilots licensed and insured?

Yes. Every pilot who flies for us holds an FAA Part 107 remote pilot certificate and is covered by our insurance. If your property manager, owner, or general contractor needs a certificate of insurance before we arrive on site, ask for it when you book.

Can you fly anywhere in the Denver metro?

Not everywhere, but most places with planning. Large parts of Denver are controlled airspace, so we check authorization before every flight and request it through LAANC or other FAA channels. A few locations near airports or restricted areas may not be approved, and we tell you early if so.

What happens if the weather is bad on shoot day?

We reschedule. Wind, precipitation, and low clouds are common reasons to move a flight in Colorado. We watch the forecast in the days before and contact you as soon as conditions look doubtful, so your team is not left waiting on site.

Do you provide mapping and survey data, not just photos?

Yes. We produce orthomosaics, elevation models, photogrammetry meshes, and LiDAR point clouds. These support surveyors and engineers, but they are not a licensed land survey. Your surveyor or engineer of record should review and certify any data used for legal or design decisions.

How do I book drone services in Denver?

Request a quote with the address, the goal, and your deadline, or book online for a standard aerial photo shoot. We will confirm airspace, recommend deliverables, and schedule around the weather. Next-day delivery is available on many photo shoots, while mapping and LiDAR timelines are set during scoping.
