Planning around the clerk, the light, and the weather
Courthouse and clerk's office schedules can change, and indoor rooms are often small with mixed lighting. We keep gear compact, use flash only when allowed, and plan portraits outside where the light is better.
Timing matters for portraits. Midday sun in downtown Denver is bright and harsh, so we look for open shade along buildings and under trees. If your ceremony is in the morning, portraits right afterward work well; for afternoon ceremonies, waiting an hour for softer light can be worth it.
Weather in Denver can change quickly. Winter days are short and can be cold, while summer afternoons bring sudden storms. We keep indoor backups in mind, such as building lobbies or covered walkways, and adjust the plan on the day.
Check current marriage license requirements with the Denver Clerk and Recorder before booking, since procedures and appointment rules can change.
