An awards ceremony photographer in Denver, Colorado has a job with little room for error. Each winner gets one walk to the stage and one handshake, and if the moment is missed, there is no retake. Award recipients want that photo for LinkedIn, local press, and their family. Organizers need it for press releases, newsletters, sponsor reports, and next year's nominations.
Rocky Mountain Photography was founded in 2016 by brothers Jeff and Nick Perry in Denver. We photograph industry awards, employee recognition dinners, school and university honors, association galas, and community awards at hotels, theaters, and event venues across the metro. Our photographers work from the program script so every name and moment is covered, in order and without surprises.
Covering winners and stage moments
Before the ceremony, we review the program, category list, and presentation order, and we confirm where winners will enter, receive the award, and exit. Our photographer positions for a clean angle that shows the recipient's face, the presenter, and the award, avoiding podiums and screens that block the view. For each winner, we capture the walk-up, the handoff and handshake, the speech, and a posed image with the presenter facing the camera. Many organizers set up a branded photo area just off stage where winners pause for a portrait with their award, which gives consistent, well-lit images for press. Our step-and-repeat setup works well for this. Group photos of all winners at the end of the night are planned in advance so they happen quickly. Dark ballrooms and colorful stage lighting are handled with careful exposure and discreet flash only when appropriate.
Gala atmosphere, guests, and sponsors
Awards nights are also social events. We photograph arrivals, decor, table settings, cocktail hours, entertainment, sponsors, and guests celebrating, so the gallery tells the whole story of the evening rather than only the stage. Sponsors who receive photo coverage are photographed with their signage, tables, and executives, and images are organized for sponsor reports. When the event is a fundraiser, our gala and fundraiser page covers auction and donor moments in more detail. For a corporate audience, coverage can follow the approach on our corporate event photographer page. We dress to match the event's formality and move discreetly between tables, asking guests politely for small group shots. Highlight images can be delivered quickly so you can announce winners on social media the same night or the next morning while the excitement is still fresh.
Adding video and delivering results
Video adds a lot to an awards program. We can record each presentation and acceptance speech for winners to share, film a highlight reel for next year's promotion, or capture short interviews with recipients and leaders. Photo and video crews coordinate under one plan so they do not block each other's angles. After the event, images are edited for consistent color and exposure and delivered in an online gallery, organized by category or winner when requested, which makes it easy to send each recipient their photos. Usage for press, marketing, and sponsor reporting is included. Video edits follow on a timeline we confirm in advance. For package options, see our event photography packages, or request a quote for combined photo and event video production. Booking early is wise for spring and December, when award season and holiday events fill the calendar.
