A twilight session focuses on the home's exterior during the brief window after sunset. From the ground, we photograph the front elevation with every interior light on, then move to the backyard to capture patios, outdoor kitchens, fire features, and pools. In the air, the drone captures elevated views that show the glowing home against the evening sky, often with mountain silhouettes or city lights in the background. Twilight video adds slow aerial reveals and gentle ground movement, edited into a short clip for social media or woven into a full listing film. Because the window is short, we prioritize the angles that matter most and discuss them with you before shoot day. A clear shot list makes the most of a window that lasts only minutes.
The best twilight light lasts only a short time after sunset, so planning matters more than in any other shoot. We arrive before sunset to set up and confirm angles. Every interior light should be on, including lamps and under-cabinet lighting, and blinds should be open evenly. Turn on landscape lighting, light the fire pit or fireplace if safe, and run pool lights and water features. Remove cars, hoses, and trash bins from view. If the home has smart lighting on timers, adjust them so lights do not switch off mid-shoot. Sellers can stay home but should stay out of lit windows. We will share a checklist when you book, and we watch the forecast in case clouds or wind require a new date.
FAA Part 107 rules allow drone flights during civil twilight when the aircraft has anti-collision lighting visible for several miles, and our pilots follow those requirements. Twilight flights near Denver's airports still need airspace authorization, which we request in advance. Pilots fly conservative routes in low light, keep the drone in sight, and avoid flying over people. Wind often calms in the evening along the Front Range, which can help, but afternoon storms in summer can push sessions to another night. If a flight is not safe, we will not fly it, and ground-level twilight photos can still go ahead. Asking any provider about their twilight flight procedures is a good way to gauge professionalism.
